Christmas Concert at St Silas 08.12.17

IMG_7952Community Christmas Concert at St Silas is an exciting project and involves work with adult choir, children choir and professional musicians. All of these participants are local parents and children, fellow musicians and friends! We rehearse through November and put a great production in a first week of December. We have a little tradition now, after the concert we celebrate the night going to the local ‘Lina’s bar and sing their till sun rise! Come and join us!

Loved playing ‘Winter’ A. Piazzolla together with Evangelina Victoria on violin and Tristan Buesst on Cello.

The premier of my new composition ‘Hear the spirit come’ were received incredibly well, and dedicated to our vicar Ray Mcinnes in 2017, also performed in 2018 with some extra musical twist!

Next Christmas Concert at St Silas scheduled on 7th December 2018, Friday at 7 p.m. Come and join us!

Ukulele Ladies plus a Couple of Blokes

The St Kilda based Ukulele Ladies plus A Couple of Blokes has launched a guerrilla music campaign to bring the delights of the ukulele to the public.

Instead of formal concerts or gigs the Ukulele Ladies and Blokes will just turn up at a restaurant or event with their ukes and play a couple of numbers.

Bay Street Festival 27th Nov. 2015

Bay Street Festival just celebrated its 5th year of school choirs and school bands performances.

A key component of the Festival is its musical programme which featured some 300 performers. Many of these performers were school choirs and bands.

The school choirs competed for the Perpetual Mike Brady Trophy, and the winner was the Port Phillip Specialist school choir!

The night was a great success full of entertainment for parents and students!

The festival will run again on 25th of November in 2016!

See you there!

The 33rd Asian Composers League International Conference

I was very lucky to be invited to attend the 33rd Asian Composers League International Conference in Manila, Philippines on 6th-12th November. My composition ‘Breath’ was performed at the National University of Philippines. I loved the collaboration between all the composers that attended the conference. It was inspiring and nurturing and I am looking forward to the next conference in Hanoi, Vietnam in 2016.

Rock meets Classical

What did you do on school Holidays?

Together with my nephew who is 12 years old and a keen rock guitar player we decided to play a mix! Classical (which is me) meets Rock!

We improvised on two themes: Piano concerto number 1 by Tchaikovsky and ‘Beat it’ by Michael Jackson! Recorded it in a studio and came up with awesome track!
